DSA to Catholic JC My dear Sec 4 juniors, I believe many of you may have heard about Direct School Admission (DSA) to Catholic Junior College. I know that some of you do not know how the procedure may be. You can easily check that out at the Catholic JC website. http://www.cjc.edu.sg/web/wp-content/2009/dsa/CJC_DSA_2009_instructions.pdf However, as a Chong Boon alumni, I know that you guys are just too lazy to check out at the website therefore I will elaborate here for you. You MUST first read the instructions stated at the website (link above). Then, when you are sure of what is asked of you, please download and print the DSA application form. http://www.cjc.edu.sg/web/wp-content/2009/dsa/Application_Form_2010.pdf Fill it up. You realised that there will be a section which require your teacher ( any for you to choose from, my advice is that choose the teacher that is closest to you and knows you well) to fill up. Instructions is given therefore your teacher should know what is to be done. You could also ask Miss Tan to help you fill up that particular section HOWEVER, like I have stated before IT IS BEST TO CHOOSE A TEACHER THAT IS CLOSE TO YOU. You see, if the teacher don't know you well, he/she will have difficulty filling up that section. Please don't make life difficult for your teachers as they have so many things in their hands already. (Miss Tan 辛苦你了!) Once that section is filled, your teacher would have sealed it up in an envelope (you provide it! Not the teacher). Post your printed documents and that sealed envelope to Catholic JC. Catholic Junior College, 129 Whitley Road, S(297822) BY 5.00 pm, Friday 17 July 2009. Once Catholic JC received the letter, they WILL call you to arrange for an audition. I do not know the audition dates so please do not ask me. The audition criteria is as follows: Please prepare... For Winds and Brasses: Major Scales up to 4 sharps and 4 flats, 2 octave up and down. Solo Piece - ( No ensemble pieces. SOLO! You can try the esplanade library for solo pieces. My advice: If you can't find, prepare a piece where you are the melody but try to find. ) For percussionist : Sorry I'm not very sure but I guess it should be somewhat the same. Major scales up to 4 sharps and flats. Solo piece. Basic stroking. For more information or clarification please contact Mdm Lum at 62524083 or email to: lum_poh_ling@moe.gov.sg Those who are interested please sms me (Ying Xuan)! I need the names. Please get my number from Diyan , Angie or any of the exco members. They should have my number. Our quota is 40 students, 50 if possible. If we do not get 40-50 students the audition MAY BE CANCELLED. So PLEASE PLEASE sms me if you are interested and CONFIRM going for the audition. On personal note: (Honestly speaking) If you are interested in pursuing college education after the Os please also try Tampiness Junior College. Tpjc is a good college , don't forget that you are also from a neighbourhood school. Even if your results are poor, just try! Cause you never know that lady luck may be by your side. If you are interested/ psycho-ed by Kelvin, in Meridian JC, you can also try. Though my advice is to think thrice. Not because of the band life but the college life- go ask around. But PLEASE THINK carefully, where you should go JC or POLY. Time is too precious for you to waste. Heehee, Sorry Mr. Chiang but I'm not out to steal business from you. XP Your cute and lovable senior Ying Xuan (feel free to vomit after reading 'that' sentence) |
