Greetings to all band members I've decided to post on what's been happening recently & also what Mr Chiang had informed me. Today I can see, that some of you made the effort to come back to the band room to either self practice and maybe join your sectionals for practice. Kudos to Flute section, Tuba section Saxophone section Trumpet section and also Clarinet section, as they have majority of their members there. After the talk yesterday by Ms Tan Mr Chiang and also Mr Marcus I've seen people putting effort in their practices, but this, however is not good enough. There were only 20 poeple in the band room just now doing practice, and from what i see, it's not really intensive practices. I dont blame it completely on them as because they're just sec2. But what disappoints me the most is that the seniors themselves dont come back to guide their juniors. I have several sections, in with no seniors was there at all to guide their juniors. I understand if the sec4 are not there, but what about the sec3? Dont tell me you guys are also busy with O levels. Like what Mr chiang said yesterday, Practicing 1-2 hrs a day dont affect your studies. It's how you plan your time. Mr Chaing just recently called me to ask me on today's attendance. I told him around 20 people came. He asked me what time people started leaving. I told him by 3.30, there were people already packing their instrument. He then asked me, what time the room was opened, i said 2.30. & he got shocked. Why? Cause it was a one hour practice. & I can see, that in this 1 hour, 1/4 of the time is spent on staring into blank space. This isn't called serious sectionals. He then asked me to urge all SLs to push their sections. Especially trumpets clarinet and flutes and trombones. I mentioned to him, how to push the trombones, when seniors themselves dont come back? When there is no seniors, how can the juniors move on? Tomorrow's master class is cancelled. Why? Cause Mr Chiang knows that if there's going to be a masterclass tomorrow, we'd probably be doing the same thing over and over again. Fixing the same mistakes, which can easily be fixed during sectionals time. Im not going to elaborate more. Tomorrow there will be a talk, to all sec3&2. And, when i say talk, i mean straight forward talk. Sec3&sec2 I urge you all to just work hard for the next 1 & a half month. Syf will soon be here, in a blink of an eye. You wouldn't want to experience the Bronze Band label. Are you guys just going to wait then get the bronze & regret that you didnt practice much? Are you going to repeat the mistakes we did in the past? Like what Mr Chiang said, This band, was once a gold band. If our seniors can get a gold, why cant we? Think about it. Now is the SYF period & this is seriously not the time to hold grudges against each other. When syf comes closer, communication is crucial. We cant affort to have miscommunication again in the band. |
